Here is a classic that’s never going to leave the Spotify playlists and search. In fact, it will probably remain on apple and others too. Digging from the crates, this is one of YouTube’s earlier Hip Hop hits, the official C.KHiD “New Rap Songs” music video.
“New rap songs, they all the same / If you tired of this, here’s a new wave” rapped the southern American Hip Hop act.
A nod to what was shifting in Hip Hop at the time, much changed after and like Nostradamus, the Khid saw it coming. The video, shot in Hollywood-CA, is a performance visual with the emcee being vibrant and doing petty things to replicate the setting of rap in the era.
NRS was the debut single from C’s 2013 album, “New Rap Songs.” To date, the video has nearly 68,000 views and 1700 likes. It was shared only a measly 50 times however, going to show the lack of appreciation for crafty lyrics on YT at the time.
There is a cameo from fellow YouTuber Mlss Ruby. At the end of this rap flick, get a sample of the young rapper’s other NRS single “Yeah Girl.” Find both tracks on iTunes, Spotify, and other streaming or download services to get a full listen.
